VISTA: A Global Story of Iran Through Cinema & Tourism

As part of efforts to expand international cooperation, Isfahan has been selected as the official representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran within the global network of tourism film festivals, CINETOUR. With members from 68 countries and more than 120 renowned tourism film festivals, the network is regarded as one of the world’s largest and most influential specialized platforms at the intersection of cinema and tourism.

As part of this collaboration, Isfahan will host an international meeting of CINETOUR members. The event will bring together international festival directors, filmmakers, producers, tourism professionals, media representatives, and cultural leaders from different countries, creating a valuable opportunity to strengthen cultural and cinematic cooperation on a global scale.

Cinema: Tourism’s Most Powerful Ambassador

Today, cinema is recognized as one of the most powerful tools for promoting tourism destinations around the world. Many cities and countries have become popular destinations for millions of travelers after being featured in acclaimed films and television series. Images, stories, and emotions have the power to convey the identity and spirit of a place to global audiences in ways that go far beyond conventional advertising.

Film tourism has become an important sector of the global tourism industry. By investing in films and documentaries, countries can showcase not only their historical and natural attractions, but also their culture, lifestyle, arts, traditional crafts, customs, and intangible heritage to audiences around the world.

VISTA: A Festival for Telling the Stories of Nations

VISTA International Cinema & Tourism Festival was created with this vision in mind. The festival supports short films, documentaries, narrative works, promotional films, creative content, tourism projects, and innovative productions that showcase tourism destinations, culture, history, nature, world heritage, art, lifestyles, and the identities of nations.

The festival provides filmmakers from around the world with an opportunity to share their stories of their homelands with international audiences and harness the unique power of cinema to promote sustainable tourism, encourage cultural dialogue, and bring nations closer together.

Isfahan: A City Worthy of Hosting a Global Event

With thousands of historical sites, architectural masterpieces, world heritage treasures, traditional crafts, folk arts, ancient traditions, diverse landscapes, and a rich cultural heritage, Isfahan is regarded as one of the world’s most valuable cultural cities. Hosting the VISTA International Cinema & Tourism Festival and the global CINETOUR meeting provides an opportunity to introduce these remarkable assets to filmmakers, media, tourism professionals, and international audiences through the universal language of cinema.

Beyond strengthening Isfahan’s position on the international cultural stage, the event has the potential to contribute to tourism development, attract investment, expand cultural diplomacy, foster international partnerships, and help establish Isfahan as a leading hub for film tourism in the region and beyond.

VISTA is more than a film festival; it is a global story of Iran, its culture, civilization, and tourism — a story that transcends borders through the language of cinema and brings nations closer together.
